Clemmons Offers Village Manager Position to Interim Leader

Mike Gunnell

The Village of Clemmons’ Governing Board unanimously appointed Mike Gunnell to permanently fill the Village Manager vacancy on Monday, February 14, 2022 during a regularly scheduled council meeting.  Mr. Gunnell has been interim manager since the resignation of Village Manager Scott Buffkin last month.

As work began on establishing a search for the vacant position of Village Manager, it was the Mayor and Council’s first choice to offer the position to Gunnell.  Gunnell has been with the Village of Clemmons since 2012 holding various positions as Stormwater Engineer, Public Works Director, Village Engineer, and Village Assistant Manager.  “Mike has thorough knowledge of all departments, stays up to date on the pulse of the community, and has an excellent rapport with staff.  It was an obvious choice,” said Mayor Mike Rogers.
